Marie
Berard Violin
In addition to her work as concertmaster
of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra and as assistant
concertmaster of the Mainly Mozart Festival in San
Diego, Marie Bérard is a sought-after soloist,
chamber musician and teacher. A member of ARC - Artists
of The Royal Conservatory, she has also worked with
Amici, ArrayMusic and New Music Concerts and has premiered
sonatas by Bright Sheng and Anthony Davis as well
as several new works with the Accordes String Quartet.
Among her solo recordings are works by Alfred Schnittke
(Concerto Grosso, no.1 and A Paganini), and the “Meditation”
from Thaïs for violin and orchestra. Her recording
of the concerto for violin and brass ensemble by Henry
Kucharzyk was released in 2002. Marie performs regularly
at chamber music festivals, notably Ottawa, Speedside
and Music in Blair Atholl, Scotland.
When she is not playing her 1767 Pietro Landolfi violin
Marie enjoys cooking and gardening.
