Maurizio
Baccante Cello
For years, Maurizio Baccante successfully pursued
a life of financial instability and chronic self-torment.
More recently, following his marriage to American
violinist Jennie Choi Baccante and the birth of their
daughter Giulia Sanghee Baccante 2 years ago, Maurizio
began an interest in Life, Liberty and the pursuit
of Sub-prime mortgages.
Continuing in his role as cellist and Latin love interest
with the Emperor Quartet, Maurizio also tends to his
responsibilities as the principal cellist of the National
Ballet of Canada and as a member of the Santa Fe Opera
and the Canadian Opera Company.
His various interests have led him to, amongst other
things, perform as an actor at Second City in Toronto,
white water canoe the infamous Moisie River in Quebec
and receive an all expenses paid stay at the Don Jail.
Born in Venezuela and raised in Argentina and Italy,
Maurizio settled with his family in Toronto where
he eagerly awaits the effects of global warming in
southern Ontario.
Maurizio loves playing with his instrument: a 160
years young cello by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, also
know as Dante Baccante.
