Bee Pallomina

Bee lives and works in Toronto/Tkaronto and is grateful to this land and the keepers of this land including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. She is also grateful to the many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Metis people who now call Toronto home.

Bee was born and raised in Tkaronto/Toronto, her ancestors hail on her mother’s side from the island of Leyte, Philippines (Waray) and her father’s side is Jewish, adopted Scottish, and English/French. As a diasporic person of multiple lineages, Bee’s work often explores themes of relationship, identity and belonging. As a settler on stolen land her she is committed to ongoing learning towards better relationship. Her art practice is centered on care and interconnection.

Bee is a dance artist active as a performer, collaborator and creator, making work for stage, installation and film/video.

Pallomina has performed with many independent choreographers, including Amanda Acorn, Ame Henderson, Robert Kingsbury, Elizabeth Chitty, Livia Daza-Paris, D.A. Hoskins, Newton Moraes, Jessica Runge, Michelle Silagy, Miko Sobreira, Heidi Strauss, Hope Terry, Holly Small and Eryn Dace Trudell. She has also worked with several dance companies, including Atlas Moves Watching, DANCEFRONT, CORPUS, Sound Image Theatre, Teatr Novogo Fronta (Czech Republic), Dancemakers, and Dancetheatre David Earle. Pallomina also appeared in several dance films by filmmakers Magali Charrier, Michael Downing, John Oswald and Karen Kaeja. She co-created two dance films with John Lauener, which both premiered at the Moving Pictures Festival and toured across Canada.

Bee has also been involved in collaborative work, co-creating and performing with fellow collaborators. Ongoing long-term collaborative relationships include performance and creation with Germaine Liu, Public Recordings and Jaisa Sulit. She has also work with artists of other disciplines including Sean Frey, Lee Henderson, Gabriel Levine and Kristine White.

Pallomina also has an active teaching practice, and is certified to teach Modo, Yin and Restorative Yoga and Open Source Forms. She is a graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre (now Dance Arts Institute) and holds an MFA in contemporary choreography from York University (2013). Her thesis explored somatics, improvisation and collaboration as alternate forms of creation.

Bee is currently studying Expressive Arts Therapy at the CREATE Institute in Toronto and is a sessional instructor at York University.
