Colin developed a passion for music while watching his father, Ray Kingsmore, play drums. At the age of 12, Colin began to pick up the drum sticks on a regular basis. He pursued music at Mayfield School of The Arts, in Caledon, Ontario, where he studied with Daryl Eaton (who played lead trumpet in The Buddy Rich big band) and John Chalmers (Head of the Ontario Vocal Jazz Festival). During high school, Colin and two of his grade school friends formed a rock band, Jinxed. In 2000, Jinxed went on to perform on the USA network produced Farm Club TV show in Los Angles, California. There, Jinxed played next to Fuel, 3 Doors Down, Tommy Lee (previously of Motley Crue) and Green Day. Jinxed returned to Toronto to play the 2001 Warp Tour at The Skydome (Rogers Centre which featured Pennywise, New Found Glory, AFI, Jimmy Eat World, Sum 41, Rancid, Alien Ant Farm, Good Charlotte, and Blink 182 and many more. Upon graduating from Mayfield, Colin chose to study music at the University of Toronto and obtained Bachelors Degree in Music in 2005. While at UofT, Colin studied drums with Barry Elmes, Terry Clarke and Bob McLaren. It was also at U of T where Colin received the Zildjian Cymbal Scholarship. Since finishing the degree program at U of T colin has performed with such artists as Michael Occhipitni, Hilario Duran, Randy Brecker , Roberto Occhipinti, David Braid, David Occhipinti, Richard Underhill, DJ Z-Trip, Kevin Turcotte, Molly Johnson, Phil Nimmons, Terry Promane, Mark Rogers, Elizabeth Shepherd, Scott Kemp, Quincin Natchoff, Brownman, Heather Bambrick, David Gogo, The Kings, Nelly Furtado, Tyler Shaw and more. Colin has also been teaching private drum lessons/clinics for 16 years throughout the GTA.
