“To mark the 40th anniversary of the release of The Beatles' Abbey Road, we presented the entire album re-imagined, re-invented, and performed by top Canadian artists from the classical, pop and jazz worlds. This was the first time I dared to tamper with the Beatles’ music. I chose to start with this iconic album because of the rich and ambitious arrangements of the originals and the fact that they were never performed live. As with our other popular music projects, I wanted to find that fine line between retaining the authenticity of the originals while pushing as many boundaries as possible in the reinvention of the arrangements. Ten different composers worked as arrangers on this project. Each bringing their own musical sensibilities and vocabularies to the task. Most of the original vocal harmonies which were not part of these performances and were added in 2015.” Andrew Burashko
