Variété (2004)

Variété

January 29 - February 1, 2004

the Gladstone Hotel, toronto

Argentinian/German composer Mauricio Kagel was considered one of the fathers of “Theatre of Music”, and one of the major composers of the latter half of the 20th century. Variete is one of Kagel's most provocative creations. When he wrote it, he left these instructions: A vaudeville show, in the early 20th century tradition, is to be created to accompany the music.
